WHERE IS MY NEAREST CLUB?

HOW MANY TIMES A WEEK WOULD MY CHILD NEED TO TRAIN?
Your child needs to train at least once a week. Progress and skill development will be enhanced by training more than once a week. You can increase training temporarily when needed (grading times etc). Adults train once a week for two hours. They may gain further training through our bespoke programmes.

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Your first lesson is FREE. You then pay for your next two lessons as you go. At the end of the third lesson we require a commitment from you to carry on training. We want you to stay because you want to, not because you have to.

 

WILL I GET HURT?
Ju-Jitsu is a contact sport / martial art and you can get bumps and bruises. However we have never made a claim on our insurance and have never had a serious injury in our club. Safety is always paramount.

 

HOW DO MY GRADINGS WORK?
We have three separate syllabus to cater for all ages.

Under 11’s
You start with White Belt Plus Black Tab, then progress to White Belt with coloured  stripes and black tabs, all the way up to the under 11’s Black Belt. Gradings are held 3 times a year.

Juniors (age 11-16)
You start with White belt and then progress on to White Belt With Black Stripe, then Yellow Belt, then, Yellow Belt Plus Black Stripe all the way up to Junior Black Belt. Gradings are held 3 times a year.

Adults
You start with White Belt and progress on to Yellow Belt, then, Orange Belt, Green Belt, Blue Belt, Purple Belt, Brown Belt and Black Belt.

 

WHAT DO I WEAR?
When you start training you should wear something comfortable like a tracksuit and T shirt or sweat shirt. Only once you have made a commitment would you invest in a Gi (suit).

WILL PRACTISING JU-JITSU MAKE ME FIT?
Ju-Jitsu will help improve your fitness, but its main benefits are self defence and character building. Please refer to Home Page.

 

I AM AN ABSOLUTE BEGINNER WITH NO MARTIAL ART EXPERIENCE, CAN I STILL COME ALONG?
Yes you can. All classes are mixed ability and you would be helped and encouraged in your Ju-Jitsu training.

 

I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION, CAN I STILL TRAIN?

DO YOU TRAIN WITH WEAPONS?
In Ju-Jitsu we train in the following weapons:
Jo Staff, Bo Staff, Nunchakas, Bokken and Katana (adults only). Weapons are taught as Kata and training is determined by age and grade of the students
